Music is important to us and we are blessed with quite a number of excellent musicians within our congregation. The Music Coordinator is one of five organists who serve in rotation on a regular basis. In addition to occasional soloists, an intergenerational instrumental ensemble regularly gathers to play and enhance the music of the liturgy.
Most in our congregation would likely agree with St. Augustine of Hippo who reportedly said, Qui bene cantat bis orat or “He who sings well prays twice”. We generally sing the psalms set to plainsong chant, and enjoy several mass settings throughout the year. We use a fairly wide range of hymns ranging from the decidedly traditional to more contemporary expressions.
